A step in the right direction...

So we are moving quite quickly in the design of our buildings... and just wanted to give you an update on the different variations of what my floor plan looks like... I haven't got a final floor plan just yet... But will soon!!

This diagram shows the effect of the environment around the building,
such as the effect of the sun on the interior of the building, the views, the wind. The idea behind the diagram is
to show where the best positions are in the building, as well as where the existing plumbing is located.

This is the first of the floor plans for the building, indicating the positions of each function as well as where
the services are located. This however, is not the final floor plan as there is too many functions
located where there is noise. It's something to think about!
This is the thought process behind the position of the indoor pods.
This is the finalized floor plan in the positioning of the different functions, now to put the furniture in for a final and complete plan.

Update on what is happening so far...

Just though I would give you an update on what we are currently doing...

At the moment we are currently doing research into theories that are to be applied into our designs... For my design I have chosen three strong theories that can relate to the Office of the Future as well as to the magazine design...

The three theories I have chosen are 1. Information Interaction design 2. The Future Office and 3. Technology vs Sustainability...

But I will keep you updated on what the theories are about...

A few more pictures of inspiration...

The Site.

So I have just remembered that not once in my posts have I explained which building I am using for my Btech design project... and today seems fitting to show it as we presented our design project on the site analysis today...

The chosen site for my design project is The Old Tramways Building which is located in Port Elizabeth. Its a site that is currently under development, but that doesn't stop me from designing something that in the end might only work better... The site is centralized to an up and coming area, and is in close proximity to the Donkin, to Bridge Street Brewery, and Stanley Street. However, the reason I chose the building is because of the double volume space... as well as the view onto the river... which at the moment might not look like much...

But here are a few pictures to show the building and why I love it so much...
